Insurance For Movers

Whatever you are moving around the corner, across town or nationwide Allan’s Furniture Removals has a full range of door-to-door transit and storage insurance options for you to choose from.

While we take every precaution to ensure your possessions are safe and secure, we cannot protect against the possibility of loss or damage due to unavoidable or unforeseen circumstances. Our protection plan is one of the broadest and most user-friendly in the market and is specific to the moving industry. It’s very unlikely your household insurer can provide full ‘end to end’ protection against the risks associated with moving house.

What Does Transit Insurance Cover Include?

The standard policy covers all risks (including chipping, denting, scratching and breakage) from door-to-door on a professionally packed basis. Your effects are also fully covered while they transit through our storage facilities.

There are storage extensions available once standard transit times are exceeded. For customers who prefer to pack their own goods there is a restricted cover package available, at a lower cost. Total loss cover is also an option.

What Options Are There?

There are two options;

1) You can either complete a Valued Inventory that involves determining the full replacement value of your effects.

2) You can take up the Lump Sum option of establishing their insured value.

For customers who don’t like filling in forms or are uncertain of their values we recommend Lump Sum. The sum insured and premium are provided by Allan’s Furniture Removals with no fuss or extra work. In the event of a claim there is no confusion over the true value.

There are ‘non-standard’ additional protections to both our Valued Inventory and Lump Sum plans. These additional covers can include mould and mildew, electrical and mechanical derangement, pairs and sets, freezer contents and antiques.

Here’s further detail on how our transit moving and storage insurance works;

    • Once you confirm your booking, we appoint a dedicated customer service person to work with you and ensure you know exactly what needs to be done.
    • As a rule, we advise that you complete the paperwork at least five days before a move so we have time to ensure the forms are fully completed and correct.
    • We cover you for replacement value.  This means the value your effects had at the time you purchased them rather than the depreciated or second and value.
    • Our transit policy is a specialist policy designed specifically for customers whose effects are moving within New Zealand or overseas. It is fully comprehensive and not an extension to a household contents cover.
    • While you can be selective, we strongly recommend that you insure all your effects for their full replacement value when moving.
    • In the unlikely event of a claim, you only deal with us. We manage our own policy and view claims settlement as a customer service.
